NASHVILLE, TENN. – Beloved for her relatability and candor – country superstar Lauren Alaina chronicles her change of heart and perspective following the loss of her father on the deeply personal new song “Little Things.” Finding Alaina at her most vulnerable and earnest, the song is available now.

“The loss of my father was unexpected and life shattering. When you have a loss of this magnitude, the little things in life start to matter a lot less,” shares Grand Ole Opry member Alaina. “I will never forget the conversation I had with my brother on the way to the session I wrote this song. He said someone had complained to him about the cost of eggs. He said he just kept thinking to himself, ‘My dad just died. I don’t really care about the cost of eggs anymore.’ It really struck me.”

“I told him when something that really matters happens, your eyes are opened to what doesn’t. I told him I was going to write that song for us that day. I know our dad would be proud of us both,” continues Alaina.

Penning “Little Things” with Ross Copperman, Seth Ennis and Emily Falvey, the new song was produced by lauded hitmaker Joey Moi. Through Alaina’s transparency, American Songwriter shares, “Alaina has built up a reputation for being a vibrant force of positivity in the world.” Sung directly to her treasured father, Alaina chronicles the way her perspective has shifted away from sweating the small stuff that vies for attention:

Bet you’re in Heaven swearing Hell froze over

Sitting on a cloud, looking down just watching me

Brush a little more off my shoulder

Smiling through tears sitting here with a song to sing

When your whole world stops

It makes you stop to think

Since you went and got your big ole angel wings

I give a little less damn ’bout the little things

“Little Things” follows a string of resonating releases from Alaina including “All My Exes (feat. Chase Matthew),” which gave Alaina the biggest first-week streaming numbers of her career. Earlier this year, she released a similarly sassy “Household,” called a “Song You Need to Know” by Rolling Stone, the softhearted, sentimental “Those Kind of Women” that Billboard deems “a tender ballad,” and “Heaven Sent” in celebration of the birth of her baby girl.

Amidst a new chapter in music and in life, Alaina has discussed such topics with endearing honesty on The Kelly Clarkson ShowOff the Vine with Kaitlyn BristoweAmazon’s Country Heat Weekly podcast, and Diving In Deep with Sara Evans, among other interviews. Fans can also see Alaina, who “utilizes her likeness to encourage authenticity” (Forbes), via her web series LA Lately where she captures true-to-life conversations with some of her closest friends. Recent episodes include guests like Trisha Yearwood, Hannah Brown, Chase Matthew, Russell and more. The series can be viewed here.
